Instant Gratification

It's happened! The Impossible Project and their dream of producing instant film for Polaroid cameras is now a reality and we are proud to have brought their PX600 Silver Shade First Flush film onto the streets of Perth.

This is a monochromatic film for use in 600 type cameras with 8 photos to a pack. Being their 'First Flush' they were still experimenting, so be prepared for some odd characteristics. I reckon they make the film more fun! Things like white spots or undeveloped areas are what to expect. You can find tips and instructions for using this film here. It's available for purchase in store or online and $35 gets you one packet.

When the Impossible Project started they bought up as much remaining Polaroid stock as they could, and lucky for us we were able to get our hands on some of what they scored! So, and this is pretty exciting, we are able to bring you TZ-Artistic for SX-70 cameras, Image Softtone for Spectra cameras (type 1200) and some of the peel apart type 100 film in chocolate, sepia and blue. These gems are, as you can imagine, very limited.

Warm as Toast

We've just had a new delivery of our most favourite winter warmers, and I'm not talking hot chocolate (mind you we love hot choc more than you know). These are the new scarves hand knitted by our Auntie Kathryn in Canberra! She is so hugely talented in the knitting department and always produces such beauties.

Why oh why did we start talking about hot chocolate? Now I need one so badly!

Polaroid News!

Howdy all you Polaroid lovers, I have some good news for you!

1. We received a letter from Polaroid today announcing their new camera! For those familiar with the Fuji Instax it is like that - same shape and prints those business card sized photos. It's super cute! So Polaroid are producing the cameras and the film. They come in blue, red and black and their expected arrival in stores is May/June. So not long now! If you'd like to reserve your camera please email us.

2. The Impossible Project have announced they are making film. They have been working hard to bring back instant film and it is SUPER exciting that this has become a reality, right?

3. We still have some of the remaining Polaroid film! A few packs of 600 film remains at $35/pack and we've just managed to get a case of 779 film too which goes for $39/pack. Perth locals can swing past the store to grab some of what's left, or if online shopping is more your style we have what you need here.

As you can probably tell we are really excited by this!

August 2009

Hello! We are most excited about the first injections of our printed stuff! To start us off we have two men's tees and a women's hoodie. We really hope you like them!

We've had a stack of menswear and womenswear from American label Rock Steady. Short and long sleeved shirts, cute, casual dresses, embroidered cardigans and even some rockabilly inspired baby clothes. We really dig it and know you will too. A second drop of their wares is due to arrive really soon too!

Malmö fans will be pleased to hear that Fredrik's new shirts have arrived! Once again they are an excellent fit and we have both long sleeved and short sleeved styles.

On the jewellery front we have some new necklaces and earrings out of Canada that are made from recycled vinyl records. Our favourites are probably the keyboard necklace and the red apple earrings. And you have to see the new Lady Luck Rules OK range too! Wooden ice creams, mushrooms and animals are flocked, plus there's the usual enamel pieces too. All you Polaroid lovers are going to dig this...
... yep that's right, it's a Polaroid Land Camera 1000 OneStep.

Speaking of Polaroid, 600 film is currently in stock for your instant photography needs.

Okay, there's some more stuff but we don't want to overwhelm you right now! Come in and visit, or check it all out online. See you soon! xx

May 2009

First of all we are super proud to announce a joint venture with local artist Lisa Max. We have been stocking Lisa's toys and pillows for a couple of months and we have just released a limited edition jersey scarf with Lisa's cat and owl artwork printed on both ends. Art you can wear around your neck! We are really excited to see what we can create together in the future.

Berserk is a clothing label from Karen Bjornenak in Melbourne. Karen also co-owns the great Cat's Meow boutique in the Campbell Arcade in Melbourne's city. Her clothing is cut beautifully with great details. We also love that she only does limited runs of her designs so you really have to snap them up when you see them. We've almost already sold out of her black and white swallow printed skirt but we have just got in a size range of the new red ones with black swallow print.

We do love our brooches here and when mutual friend Laura Miller pointed Sniffle Co in our direction, we couldn't have been more pleased. Bowling pins, ghosts and Woody Allen are all tops motifs for decorating your chest, we think. Here's an interview with Sniffle Co's
creator John Patterson -
http://craft-victoria.blogspot.com/2009/05/introducing-john-patterson-of-sniffle.html

We're always being asked about bags suitable for guys and when we found screen printed canvas knapsack bags from New Orleans based Happy Family, we knew we were on a winner! It's hard to pick a favourite but personally, we're keen on the dinosaur and Diana camera prints.

Feel like a new dress for winter? Just a sample of our current range includes a strapless 50s red and white stripe number from Peta Pledger, denim ruffled minis from Nooworks, woollen plaid a-lines from Gentle Fawn or fancy black silk with a bow shifts from Secret Squirrel. Come in and see what else we have in store for you!

We also have some more polaroid film due to arrive any day now. Our last lot went so fast we missed out on buying any for ourselves! We've ordered some extra this time but if you'd like any held for you email us at info@ruckrover.com.au and we will sort you out.

March 2009

First we'd better let you know that Ruck Rover FOOTY TIPPING is back for 2009! The leading tipster at the end of the home and away season will once again win a $50 voucher to be used in the store. Follow this link to join the competition. Those of you who were members last year won't have to rejoin, all you have to do is reactivate your footytips.com.au membership by logging in and that's it!

Now, we are happy to introduce new menswear label Malmo. This is the new project of Fredrik Jonsson, one half of the much loved Hem & Haw duo. We know a lot of you were sad to hear of the end of Hem & Haw, but now you can be happy that there is a new label bringing out men's
shirts with super great cuts and in great fabrics.

Those of you who came shopping for men's tees before Christmas probably noticed the awesome range of prints from Slow Loris. Well, we've just received another delivery from them with some new designs and boy are they excellent! We reckon the best is the Top Gun inspired print... or maybe the engine diagram one. So good!

The new Heavy Rotation delivery has arrived and is selling like hotcakes! All those Holga lovers out there (of which we are two!) will dig the camera tees they have done in women's and men's cuts.

We are also stocked up on those lovely bags from Little Odd Forest! As usual all the fabrics used are a surprise, so no two bags are alike.

Oooooh we are also really excited about the latest drop from Melbourne favourite Tomorrow Never Knows. Check out the women's tees, singlets and hoodies and the men's tees and warm gear.

After being featured on the super awesome Michi Girl blog (http://michigirl.com/newsletter/world/1485/januhairy/), the Mr Moustache tote sold out so fast! So for those of you who missed out, get in quick because we have a small re-stock of those brilliant bags from Sirena con Jersey in Spain. You can find them in store, or you can find them here. They totally rule.

Okay what else is new... oh we some news to pass on, our much loved friends from Tasmania Small Rhino are producing jewellery no more! The pair have decided to go their separate ways and both have split from Hobart. This means any stock we have at the moment is that we'll ever
have! Whaaah! We did do an order of all pieces from their most recent range of deco bow brooches and necklaces as well as restocking the ever popular deco bird brooches. If you've had your eye on these before, don't miss out on snapping one up before they all go.

Right, that's all for the moment. Come visit us soon please!

January 2009

Hey gang!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that the new year is off to a great start. We re-opened our doors this morning and are excited to be back!

We've spent the morning marking down some items and there are some real bargains. All remaining Dangerfield, Revival, Black Friday and Princess Highway stock is super cheap, and other bits and pieces too.

Also, it's nice and cool in here, the air conditioner is cranking. Come visit!

And don't forget you have until January 14th to exchange any unsuitable Christmas gift items, just make sure you bring your receipt.

Finally, we'd like to thank you so much for all your support throughout 2008. We love our jobs and that's because of you guys. We have the most lovely customers ever and we look forward to seeing you all in 2009. It's going to be a fun year, we're sure.

Love Claire and Isabelle xx
